Comings
and Goings
First,
the bad news:
Anne-Marie Begley will be leaving us at the end of Spring Quarter. She's
been one of our most popular and versatile instructors for many years.
We're delighted,
though, that she's been awarded the directorship of the Knoxville Girls
Club/Boys Club music program over a field of 150 applicants. The full-time
job will make great use of her many talents.
Now for
some good news:
Wayne Ackerman, who taught with us for a short while several years ago
as a graduate student at UT, has joined Music Arts and will be teaching
trumpet.
Ackerman,
now armed with his Master's degree in Music Education with a major in
trumpet, teaches band in Knoxville schools and is a member of the Oak
Ridge Symphony as well as several wind and brass groups in Knoxville.
More
good news:
Lisa Griggs has been joined by Terry McCracken
in our vocal department. McCracken was most recently heard as Bass soloist
with the Oak Ridge Symphony and Chorus' production of Beethoven's Ninth
Symphony. McCracken has proved to be a valuable addition to our faculty!
Although he's very qualified to teach any vocal range, he's particularly
good with male voices, giving lots of pointers on projection, stage
presence and all the rest which goes with teaching vocal skills.
Summer
Quarter Discount??
As described
in the Music Arts Student Guide, a ten percent discount is being applied
to your Summer Quarter continuing lessons if you've studied since the
beginning of the past Fall Quarter and have sent in all payments by
the fifth of the month (postmarked by the 3rd). If you didn't qualify
this summer . . . There's always next year.
