Music
Arts Supports the Troops
The Music Arts Board of Directors, at their Annual Meeting in January,
adopted a new policy.
Starting with this Spring Quarter, Music Arts will charge 50%
of regular lesson prices for dependents (of any age) of military reservists and
National Guard who are recalled to active duty, for the duration of
the duty.
If your family is involved in a service call-up, please contact our
office and let us know. And if you know of anyone in this situation
who is not presently studying with us, let them know about our half-price
offer.
--We’ll appreciate it, and they’ll appreciate it

Congratulations
to the winners of the Music Arts 2004 Composition

their instructors who helped nurture their talents!
First
Prize goes to Daniel Bridges, son of Cathy and Arnold
Bridges, for his guitar opus. Daniel studies guitar with Harold
Nagge.
Second
Prize was awarded to Jessie Pounds, cello student
of Nancy England. Jessie is the daughter
of Judy Roitman and Larry Pounds. Calvin Cummings,
piano student of Rudolph Nemeth, received
Third Prize. His parents are Elizabeth and Peter Cummings. With a
double entry, Daniel Bridges cleaned up fourth place
with his piano work. Daniel is also a piano student of Nemeth’s.
Give
Aid to Music (and a few other worthy Arts causes) in Tennessee
Did
you know that the extra few bucks you pay for an organizational
licence
plate goes directly to that group? Here’s your chance
to display your support of the Arts in Tennessee. The plate costs
$35 more than the ‘plain vanilla’ one you’ve
probably got on your car now, and of that, $31 is donated directly
to the
Tennessee Arts Commission.
Yes, we know
that the latest local headlines have cast a doubt on the entire
license plate support program, but let’s not
let that stop us from doing what we can now.
You can get
one at your local county clerk’s office for
$56.50 (instead of $29.50). You might call first to make sure they
have it on hand. You can also order one at http://www.tennessee.gov/safety/plates.html.
Go for it!
Congratulations to Karen Bright!
She’s the winner of our 6-month Referral Contest! One of
Karen’s kids will have a half a year of free piano lessons
with instructor Rudolph Nemeth!
Even though
our contest has ended, you can still benefit from referring new
students to Music Arts. For each new referral (someone
whose family hasn’t studied with Music Arts for the past
four years) who completes a full Quarter of lessons, you’ll
earn one free lesson, and that’s good for two years, a possible
total of 8 free lessons! (See page 8 in the Music
Arts Student Guide.)
