Bill Thiessen

Bill Thiessen, Instructor of Tuba, Trombone, and Baritone

Bill Thiessen has worked as a scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and as a professor at University of Tennessee. A long-time member of the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra, although presently inactive, he plays with the Oak Ridge Wind Ensemble, where he has soloed several times.

Although his ealy training was in trombone, he has played tuba for many years and was a student of Sam Pilafian of Empire Brass. He is the founder of the Harmonium Brass.

As an instructor, he is known for his vigorous, straightforward approach, and he is very popular with students.
