Edward PierceEdward Pierce, Piano Instructor

Edward Pierce is a native Oak Ridger who is well known to many in his role as pianist for First Baptist Church and as assistant Oak Ridge Chorus accompanist. He's a superior sight-reader and a fine musician who benefits from great respect among musicians in the area.

Pierce, a cheerful and outgoing person, is a natural for private piano instruction. Pierce has a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, as well as a Master's degree in Secondary Level Science Education. He has not only superb musical skills, but also an innate ability to work with people.

What is important in piano lessons? Pierce says that the style of music, such as classical or pops, isn't as important as keeping alive the desire to learn. One of his most important goals for his students is a continued sense of enjoyment of the music, no matter what learning level.

Pierce maintains a flexible approach to the amount of practice he expects from students. Teaching students how to practice effectively, while at the same time gaining confidence and self-discipline, is a big goal.
