1998 Performance Competition

The 1998 Music Arts Performance Competition was held Saturday, May 23, and here are the results!

Judge Norris Dryer and Senior Competition winner Jessica Ward

Our First Prize winner this year is Jessica Ward, flute student of Jean Box. Second Prize went to Ruh Tmeizeh, a violin student of Jacinta Howard. Third Prize went to Jamison Sevits, trumpet student of Anne-Marie Begley and Wayne Ackerman.

Honorable mentions were awarded to Susan Geist, clarinet student of Begley; Emily Mowrer, voice student of Lisa Griggs; Adam Griffith, saxophone student of Tom Johnson; and Rosann Wilson, trumpet student of Begley. The Director's Award was given to Adam Griffith.

Judge for the Senior Competition was Norris Dryer, Music Director of WUOT and violinist with the Knoxville Symphony.

The Junior Competition was judged by Jean and Vance Reese of the Asheville, NC Symphony, who chose:

First Prize:
Saif Tmeizeh, guitar student of Harold Nagge
Second Prize:
Emily Mitchell, piano student of Rudolph Nemeth, for
Third Prize:
Karen Cheng, piano student
Honorable Mention:
Michael Stinnette, piano student of Nemeth
