Jennifer Ownbys, Oboe

Jennifer is a native of Knoxville, and received her Bachelor of Music in Oboe from the University of Tennessee. She then moved to Colorado for graduate study, obtaining her Master of Music in Oboe from the University of Northern Colorado. After graduate school, Jennifer performed with many orchestras in Colorado and beyond, including the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Symphony, Central City Opera Orchestra, Boulder Philharmonic, Greeley Philharmonic, and Fort Collins Symphony. In 2008, Jennifer founded the Colorado Reed Company, and has been providing oboe and English horn reeds to customers worldwide ever since. She moved back to Knoxville in December 2010, and is happy to be back home. In addition to joining the Oak Ridge Symphony as second oboe this fall, Jennifer looks forward to building her teaching studio at Music Arts.
