Warren Clark

Warren Clark, Trumpet Instructor

Warren Clark has a rich background in all aspects of music. An amiable and talented teacher, he has had experience in music arranging, publishing and composing, as well as performing and teaching.

While earning his Bachelor of Music degree, with Honors, at the University of Tennessee, Clark was a trumpet soloist with the famous UT Band. Graduating in 1981, he was employed as Music Director for the Knoxville World's Fair, recruiting and organizing appearances of major artists, and directing the World's Fair Band. To that, he's added a number of seasons playing Broadway-type shows and Opryland USA. He's written arrangements for the Knoxville Symphony as well as the Chattanooga and Nashville Symphonies. He has also taught courses in Commercial Music, covering such areas as copyrights and recording.

Lessons with Clark cover a wide range of activities. He feels it's important to work with the music which the student brings, whatever the level of advancement, and notes that students appreciate help with their school band music. "Even beginners need scales," says Clark, "so I try to make scales interesting. If the kids know scales, they'll have less trouble playing written music. And, a real bonus, they'll place higher in auditions for band chairs."

In return for his time and effort, he looks forward to enthusiastic students. "I want them to feel that they've gotten a good workout when they leave the lesson," he smiles.
