Francine Britto, Piano Instructor A native of Boa, India, Francine Britto has lived, studied and worked in countries all over the world. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance at the prestigious Trinity College of Music in London, England, following it up with several advanced degrees. She spent several years teaching music at junior, middle and high schools in India and elsewhere overseas.. A well-rounded musician, she has also served on several adjudicating boards for school and college level classical music competitions, gaining a reputation for her high standards and results. Francine has worked in a number of countries, including serving as the Overseas Representative for the London Royal Schools of Music while living in Oman, Middle East. While living in New Jersey, she worked as Treasurer for the New Jersey Music Teachers Association. She’s one of the founders of Oak Ridge’s Sound Company, the Children’s Performing Choir of Oak Ridge. Currently, she’s music coordinator for St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she oversees all aspects of music worship and serves as co-choir director of the church’s student choirs. She also serves on the board of the Oak Ridge Playhouse, and is accompanist at St. Therese Church in Clinton. Speaking enthusiastically about teaching music, Francine notes that she has enjoyed teaching students of all ages, from very young to very old. "Children are like sponges, " she smiles. "They absorb and retain information so eagerly! Adults who are renewing their love for playing the piano are just plain excited to get back to it!" Continuing, she says "It’s important to give students a good foundation by teaching them correct techniques from the beginning, while fostering a love for music." |
