Arts, you will find several opportunities to apply for scholarships
and tuition assistance.
School Visits
Music Arts is pleased to have the support, over the past several years, of the Tennessee Arts Commission and the Arts and Culture Alliance of Knoxville in helping to fund our instrument demonstrations, to Oak Ridge City Schools as well as elementary schools in Anderson, Roane and Morgan Counties, including Claxton, Petros-Joyner, Oliver Springs Elementary, Norwood, Fairview, Grand Oaks and Wartburg.
Recitals
Recitals
are frequent, fun, and give everyone the opportunity to showcase their
musical progress.
 |
| Recitalists
at a lively "Intermission Quiz" try to match composers with
their countries. |
Competitions
Music
Arts holds several contests during the year, geared towards theory,
performance, and composition-writing.
The Annual
Performance Competition is held
during the Spring Quarter and features well-known musicians as judges.
Eligibility to participate is through nomination of the instructor.
The Annual
Composition Contest is offered during the Winter Quarter and offers
students the opportunity to compose original works.
The Music
Theory Olympics is a great treat for all students. Find out how
you can participate.
Summer
Programs
 |
| "Street
Musicians" pass the time at a Music Arts exhibit at the
annual MayFest, sponsored by the City of Oak Ridge (TN). |
Summer
Quarter at Music Arts is always exciting! A variety of courses are typically
offered in such areas as ensembles (including French Horn, Flute and
Cello) and group activities including such popular courses as "You're
The Boss," a conducting class, and a vocal class which encourages talented
young students.
Music
Arts also offers a unique Student Intern
Program. Student Interns offer private lessons, at essentially half-price,
to beginners who are interested in seeing what music lessons are like,
and sampling an instrument to see if that's for them.
